Statement of Faith
Wellspring has been formed as a community of believers in
the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our greatest desire is to make Christ’s
name great by being conformed to His image and living it out by the power of
the Holy Spirit. We are a non-denominational church, which does not
oppose other denominations, and believes that we all make up the Body of
Christ.
We believe
in one God and only one, living and true God,
revealed in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe Him to be the personal, transcendent, sovereign Creator, and
Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.
We believe
that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human,
born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, became the atonement for our
sins by His death on the cross, was resurrected, ascended to the right
hand of the Father and lives to make intercession on our behalf.
We believe
that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal
with God the Father and Jesus the Son and of the same nature; that He
bears witness to the Truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony,
that He endues, empowers, guides, teaches convicts, sanctifies and helps
the believer.
We believe
in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in
the scriptures and believe they are applicable for today. Therefore they
should be exercised within biblical guidelines and the very foundation
for their use is based on love and unity. We as believers
are to earnestly seek the gifts for the purpose of glorifying God and
building up the body of believers.
We believe
the Holy Bible, the Old and New Testament to be
the infallible Word of God. Written by men supernaturally, inspired by
the Holy Spirit.
We believe
the devil or Satan was once a good and great
angel that through his own ambition rebelled against God and fell from
heaven with a third of the angelic host; that he is the enemy of God and
the tempter of man; he is the prince of the power of the air. He will
one day experience his final defeat at the hands of the Son of God and
eternal judgment in hell, a place prepared for him and his angels.
We believe that all people are by nature, separated from
God and are responsible for their own sin, but salvation and forgiveness
through the shed blood of Jesus Christ have been freely offered to all
by His grace. By repenting from sin, receiving Him as Lord and Savior,
that person is instantly born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit. That
person becomes a child of God and a part of the Body of Christ and will
spend eternity in heaven with the Lord.
We believe the church to be a gathering of Christ’s
followers who through worship, the teaching of the Word of God and the
leading of the Holy Spirit, purpose to know Him and fulfill the call of
the Great Commission.
We believe in the ordinances of the church, water baptism
and the Lord’s Supper. Water baptism – immersion in water in the name
of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and is symbolical with His death
burial and resurrection. Lord’s Supper - a remembrance of Christ’s
death, resurrection and His second coming.
